When Mommy Works Again

My first week at work is almost over and it feels amazing to be back! I missed everything. From the morning traffic jam to the evening rush, to eating lunch at my table and walking the streets of Makati until my feet is sore. It’s like I’m reigniting a part of myself that I somehow forgot.

I spent the last 4 years of my life as a housewife and dedicated myself to raising our children. I worked at home as a freelance writer from time to time but it’s still different compared to corporate life. It has its pros and cons though, and it did keep my writing skills sharp.

Now that I’m back in the corporate world working a 10-6 shift, I can’t help but feel excited and grateful for the chance to work on my career. I’m thankful for the challenges that I encounter everyday and the new things that I learn. I just realized during this first week just how far I want to go in this career and just how much I need to do to get there.

But, as Henry David Thoreau once said,

pablo-1

So that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
